AthenaDB installs and runs like software should — directly on your operating system, the way each platform expects. Pick your OS and install however you like: a graphical installer, your package manager, or the command line.
Windows
Available nowAthenaDB runs natively on Windows — both Windows Desktop and Windows Server — and fits right into your environment.

Available nowAthenaDB runs natively on Apple Silicon, built and validated against the full test suite on macOS itself. The installer is signed and notarized with Apple, so it installs without Gatekeeper warnings — and your encryption keys are held in the macOS Keychain rather than a file on disk.

Linux
Available nowAthenaDB runs natively on Linux across the major distributions. Debian and Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora are each built and validated against the full test suite on their own systems — and a Red Hat build runs across RHEL 9 and 10. Install it the way your system already expects: no containers, no surprises.

FreeBSD
Available nowAthenaDB runs natively on FreeBSD 15, built with the base system's own Clang and validated against the full test suite on FreeBSD itself — and it installs as a real FreeBSD package. BSD is a first-class target here, not a port someone got working once.

Solaris
Available nowAthenaDB runs natively on Oracle Solaris 11.4, built and validated against the full test suite on Solaris itself — and it installs as a proper Solaris package, not a tarball you have to babysit. Enterprise Unix is a first-class target here, not an afterthought.

Identity & access — the same on every platform
Role-based access control (users, roles, groups, object-level permissions) and directory integration with Active Directory or Entra ID work the same whether your server runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD, or Solaris — a non-Windows instance can join your domain and honor the same users, groups, and permissions.
All five are shipping today, and we plan to keep expanding AthenaDB across the Unix world. Every platform we list is built and tested on that platform itself — we would rather ship one fewer name than one that only half works.
